Frequently Asked Questions

We were recommended to find a therapist for our son. Do you provide therapy?

Despite the standard recommendation of individual therapy for children and adolescents with ADHD, there is no evidence that “talk therapy”, play therapy, etc. are effective in addressing ADHD-related challenges (behavior, social skills, executive functioning, etc.) ADHD Dude follows the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) evidence-based ADHD treatment recommendations (parent training in conjunction with medication management) because they produce the best results for families in the most time and cost-effective way possible. This approach, based on extensive research, has been proven to be highly effective in managing ADHD symptoms and improving the overall well-being of children and families. We provide cost-effective Parent Training through the ADHD Dude Membership Site. For those who are looking for an in-person option, we provide Parent Training in the Philadelphia area. Please join our mailing list to be notified about upcoming in-person programs.

We also offer as-needed coaching sessions (parents and child together) for families participating in our in-person school-year programs. Additionally, we can provide individual sessions as needed for the boys and young men who participate in our programs. This flexibility is designed to accommodate the unique needs of each family, ensuring that our program is tailored to your specific situation and making you feel understood and supported.

Session Fee:
55-minute session: $300
30-minute session: $150

Sessions can be paid via Zelle, Venmo, or check

Our son’s (school counselor, therapist, etc) recommended a social skills group. Do you provide social skills groups?

The research data is evident that social skills groups offer no benefit to kids with ADHD as there is no generalization of skills outside of the office where groups are held. We do not provide typical social skills groups; instead, we provide psychoeducational groups for boys and young men to learn how their brains work positively. These groups are designed to equip participants with a deeper understanding of their condition and practical strategies to navigate social situations. We teach strategies to help build and sustain friendships, persevere through temporary discomfort in new social situations, learn to be flexible to be part of a peer group, use social media and electronic
communication appropriately, and more. Most importantly, we have fun. Each group involves significant time spent playing games, going out into the community, and more.

Do you accept insurance?

At ADHD Dude, we do not accept health insurance or health savings accounts (HSA’s). This decision was made to ensure that our focus remains on providing the highest quality of care and support to our participants, without the constraints and limitations often imposed by insurance companies.

We are not local. Can our son participate in your programs virtually?

Our experience has been that virtual programs are neither effective nor enjoyable for the boys and young men we work with; thus, we do not offer an option to participate virtually.

What is the process if we would like our son to participate in your programs?

Our admission process is designed to ensure that prospective participants can succeed in our programs. The first step is to have an online form filled out by one of your son’s current teachers. Once we receive the form, we will contact you to discuss the next steps. If we believe that your son could benefit from our programs, we will schedule a time for an informal interview to meet your son. There is no charge for this appointment. If we feel that we cannot provide your son with the level of support he needs to be successful, we will refer you to programs that offer a higher level of support.

What are your credentials, and who are your staff?

You can see a list of Ryan’s credentials and training on our About page. All ADHD Dude staff have demonstrated significant experience working with students with neurodevelopmental differences and have continuing supervision. All staff must have mandated clearance checks as state and federal laws require.

Do you have a summer camp?

Trip Camp was created by Ryan in 2017. With locations in Margate, New Jersey, and Columbus, Ohio, Trip Camp attracts families nationwide and internationally. Trip Camp was sold to one of our Directors in 2024 and continues to use the ADHD Dude curriculum. Learn more at: www.adhdtripcamp.com.

This sounds great, but we’re not local. Do you know of something similar in our area?

Unfortunately, we do not. ADHD Dude programming is unique.
